Empowered Community Services is a rapidly growing National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider for people living with a Disability and Mental Health in Newcastle and The Hunter. Empowered was established in 2017 with a MISSION to better the day-to-day lives of people living with a disability. We provide a person-centred approach to participants whilst working cohesively with family, industry clinicians and professionals to guarantee our consumers receive the best available assistance Newcastle has to offer.

About You

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide support for people with a disability to achieve their NDIS goals in a community-based setting. We are seeking dynamic and motivated Disability Support Workers with a passion for helping people. Casual and part-time roles available.

  • Assisting participants with daily activities, domestic assistance, personal care and community access.
  • Following care plans and ensuring that our participants work towards their NDIS goals, dreams and aspirations.
  • Assisting participants on supported holidays at various locations around Australia.
  • Developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Following Empowered’s mission and values.
  • Working with all levels of the organisation to ensure that quality services are being provided.
  • Flexible availability for work – shifts will range from mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends
  • A valid drivers license and comprehensive insurance
  • First aid certification (valid within 3 years)
  • Valid police check (within the last 12 months)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Experience working with mental health is desired

Team Leaders

Participants receiving Community Access and Capacity Building Supports will be assigned a Team Leader. Our Team Leaders can help with tracking participant goals, developing strategies to assist with support, communicating strategies with staff, and developing reports progress reports. Team Leaders will be charged under the Non-face-to-face line item as necessary.

Establishment Fee

Participants with more than 20 hours of support per month may be charged an establishment fee when entering the service.
