School Leavers Employment Support

What is SLES?

School Leavers Employment Support is an NDIS funded program developed to support young people transition from schooling to employment. SLES is a hands-on and practical way to gain new skills and prepare for sustainable employment.

SLES funding can be included in a Participant’s NDIS plan under ‘Finding and Keeping a Job’. SLES can be provided for up to 2 years post schooling.

SLES at Empowered

At Empowered Community Services we ensure that your SLES experience is tailored to your needs. We understand that leaving school is a major event and we want to work with you to ensure that you reach your goals.
As part of the SLES program, you will have a dedicated Employment Support Worker that actively researches current industry trends, networking opportunities and employment possibilities. We support you to identify the field that you are interested in and assist you to get as prepared as possible for the future role.

We assist with all aspects of employment preparation such as:

  • Money management
  • Time management
  • Communication skills
  • Work experience
  • Travel skills

SLES can be provided within a group setting or 1:1 individual support. At Empowered, we can also offer a mixture of group and 1:1 support to get the most out of your funding.
When participating in group supports, we aim to have small groups of like-minded job seekers that can work together and form relationships that last into the future.

If you are finishing school soon, have just finished school or have SLES in your NDIS plan please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information!
