How are NDIS Sort Stays funded and what is the process of booking with Empowered?

Let’s dive into how NDIS Short Stays are funded with Empowered.  You may not realise, but requesting funding to support short stays, travel or respite is absolutely reasonable if it supports the goals in your NDIS plan.

Empowered Short Stays are funded under the short-term accommodation line item in the NDIS price guide and are billed from the CORE budget within your NDIS plan. The NDIS price guide defines the short-term accommodation line item as integrated support for self-care, accommodation, food and activities in a centre or group residence for short periods. The support item includes most expenses in a 24-hour period, including assistance with self-care or community access activities, accommodation, food and negotiated activities. Typically, this type of support would be used for short periods of up to 14 days at a time.

If you have additional funds in your CORE budget and you’ve seen our latest Short Stay destinations, are you now wondering how to get involved? All you have to do is get in contact with the Empowered Short Stay Team via 0426 959 557 or admin@empoweredcs.com and the Empowered Short Stay Team will assist you with the rest of the booking process. If you are having trouble with this, you can ask your Support Coordinator to get in contact with us on your behalf or a family member or friend.

If you are a new participant with Empowered, the Short Stay Team will ask you to fill out our online referral form so we can gather some more information about you which will assist with the matchmaking process and give us a better idea on how best to support you while you are away.

The Empowered Short Stay Team will then liaise with yourself or your nominated person regarding details of the respite such as destination, dates, accommodation needs, activities, Support Worker and any other holiday requests. The Empowered Short Stay Team will then get to work with planning your capacity-building getaway, keeping in contact with you throughout the entire process to keep you up to date until your respite commences.
